誰もが知っているBBCのフォニックスアニメ、Alphablocksです。この動画では、長いUの発音として二つのサウンドが出てきます。blueとnewの発音を浮かべば、分かりやすいです。
その次に、単語の後ろにくっ付いて、発音も、意味も別物にするマジシャン e が登場します。

Alphablocksアニメはアルファベットが書かれているブロック達のストーリです。困っている問題を自分達で解決したりするのです。自分達で単語を作れば、その単語の物が実際に現れてくるのが中々便利じゃんと私は羨ましがったりしています。

今回ご紹介するのは長いUの発音についてのエピソードです。ブロック U が主人公になります。
ブロック I が散らかしている場所で転んでいるブロック U を誤解する場面から始まります。自分のせいではないのを言いながら、Uがブロック EW に手助けを求めます。しかし、EWはこんなサウンドで発音するよと自分達のことを教えようとするのが先です。

二つの ew 発音をよく聞いてください。OohとYooです。
今回のフォニックス学習の大事なポイントですね。

その発音の一つYooサウンドがyou、Uの発音と同じなので、それを聞いた I は, ‘ほら！見てよ。EWもあなただと言っているよ’みたいな感じで、Uを攻めます。

すると、U はがっかりしながらも、自分のせいではないのを歌で伝えます。その歌で、長いUサウンドの単語が沢山出てくるので、見逃さないでください。

ブロック U のハプニングで Magic E が関わったことが分かりました。e が単語の後ろに付いたら、どんなマジックが起こるんでしょう？
