Ringle Review – Interpreting Media

About 4 dimensions : We can approach media literacy on four dimensions.

  • Cognitive level
  • Emotional level
  • Aesthetic level
  • Moral level

2) Original

In my experience, maybe I would choose Bible or Talmud or Aesop Fables before I provide some media literacy to them because if they don’t know the original concept or resources then they might believe misinformation. As I just mentioned this topic, my son got some misinformation from the YouTube videos even though we love YouTube because we can learn a lot of things, even laws and foreign languages. My son and I really love videos but we should know the original source at least.

2) Paraphrase

I would choose a book like the Bible, the Talmud, or Aesop Fables to promote media literacy skills in my son. Nowadays, there is a lot of misinformation on the internet so it is easy for children to become confused. It might be helpful to require YouTube videos to include a source for their information.
